postcard of the privileged to the eternal city

Shadowed by the Alps and dropped next to the largest freshwater lake in central Europe, Geneva ıs pıcturesque to say the least. Meeting Matts` parents transformed our Swıss stop into a vacation.
We ended up spending most of our time eating swiss and french food on the lakeside and hanging out with a wedding party of two french jewish families. Switzerland is protected by the Alps to the south of lac leman and a smaller range to the north. We entered the country by train from paris where the rhone river drains from the lake and departed in the opposite direction to the east. The tracks traced a valley through the french then swiss then italian alps into the northern plains of italy and the city of milan. Matt and I arrived late last night at our hostel (after a bit of searching through a less than clean neighborhood near Roma Termini. Today we will tackle the sights of the eternal city and the vatican, hit the beach tomorrow, and leave on an overnight train for Vienna tomorrow evening.
